Women's motorcycle tour in South Africa

Day 1 | March 7: Arrival

Welcome to Cape Town! Today, we’ll go out for a meet and greet dinner, have a tour briefing, and enjoy a few glasses of red in the Cape Town CBD area where you’ll be able to walk around the streets and explore the city.

Day 2 | March 8 Cape Town – Cederberg, 250km

Our first riding day!

We’ll have an early breakfast this morning, pack up the bikes, and get the support vehicle all sorted out before hitting the road.

We’ll have a 250km day where we’ll spend the majority of the time on paved backroads as we make our way out of town before hitting our first bit of dirt. It won’t be long after leaving the city where we start to get remote with not a car or town in site.

Dinner will be at our camp in the Cederberg mountains with a restaurant and bar on the property.

Day 3 | March 9 Cederberg – Tankwa Karoo, 150km

After a good night’s sleep, we’ll follow a Today, we’ll be heading into the Tankwa Karoo – one of Africa’s most arid regions famous for its surreal, Mars-like landscapes. Get ready for the real adventure in the very heart of the Western Cape – we’ll be covering 150 km of dirt tracks in the desert!

Our accommodation this evening will be at a remote camp in the desert with full facilities (restaurant, bar & showers).

Day 4 | March 10 Tankwa Caroo – Laingsburg, 250km

Today will be a longer day on the bikes (250kms +/-) mixing up paved and dirt roads stretching into an extremely remote region where we’ll only pass through a few small towns as we make our way to the Anysburg Nature Reserve. This is a protected area where you may see some local wildlife and plenty of spots along the way where you may want to stop and take it all in.

Our accommodation this evening will be at an eclectic lodge tucked into the mountains where you’ll enjoy a proper South African braii (local barbecue) experience.

Day 5 | March 11 Laingsburg – Price Albert, 160km

This day will be one of the highlights as you’ll go through a stunning mountain pass known as Seweweekspoort, follow along river roads outside of a small town of Calidzdorp, and eventually up and over the famous Swartberg Pass.

Day 6 | March 12 Prince Albert – Plettenberg Bay, 240 km

We’ll head out of Prince Albert on paved backroads shortly after breakfast in town, followed by a dirt trail leading us over  the Uniondale Mountain passes which cuts through valleys and along rivers toward the coast. There’s even a quirky restaurant/shop tucked away where we can stop called ‘Angies G Spot.’

Day 7 | March 13 Rest Day

Today is an R&R day. Feel free to cruise around the area at your leisure, head to the beach, go kayak along the river, or just kick back and relax at our accommodation which will be close to the local rivers and coastline.

Day 8 | March 14 Plettenberg Bay – Barrydale, 300kms

We’ll head out shortly after breakfast taking backroads and heading back inland towards the town of Barrydale where they have some of the best milkshakes in the country! The roads to get us here will take us along some of the Western Capes most beautiful mountain roads with local farm stalls we can stop at known as a ‘Padstal.’

Day 9 | March 15 Barrydale – Cape Town, 240km

Our last full day of riding will continue along twisty mountain roads towards Cape Town. Our final gem of the trip will be arriving into the Mother City via the iconic Chapmans Peak Drive which is a very famous road along the coastline.

We’ll have one final dinner together, and you’ll have the option to kick back or head into town for some late night activities and live music at The House of Machines.
