Hola Mexico!

The Magic of Dia de Los Muertos

Forget Halloween – we’re diving deep into Mexico’s most mesmerizing tradition:

  • Join candlelit processions through Tequisqiapan’s historic streets
  • Transform into a beautiful Catrina with traditional face painting
  • Experience the surreal Day of the Dead festival at its peak

The Adventure Unleashed

After the festivities, we’ll saddle up for six days of pure two-wheeled bliss:

  • Explore hidden canyons and mountain trails (70% off-road)
  • Discover ancient pyramids and waterfalls
  • Cool off in secret swimming holes

Feast on authentic Mexican cuisine (read: beyond tacos and tequila)
Get wonderfully lost in the Sierra Gorda (on purpose, we promise! Mostly.)
In collaboration with François Deroeux – a racer, off-road instructor, and a dirt bike guide who’s spent the last two decades living and exploring Mexico – we’re off on a spicy adventure to explore what Mexico has to offer.

It’s an expedition on light dirt bikes where we’ll ride riverbeds, canyons, mountain trails, and small villages, connecting with the locals, and feasting on ridiculously delicious Mexican cuisine. The itinerary may change as we go along – and that’s what makes this a real adventure.

Bike

Lightweight and nimble Honda XR150s, perfect for tackling those twisty trails.

Terrain

Hard-packed dirt, riverbeds, mountain passes, and maybe a few surprises along the way.

Culture

El Dia de Los Muertos, obviously. Also: explore ancient pyramids, wander through the charming colonial town of Queretaro and quirky Tequisquiapan and soak up the vibrant Mexican spirit. Most likely, with a margarita in hand!

Nature

Swim under waterfalls and marvel at the breathtaking scenery.

Gear up for the Day of the Dead…On Wheels

Daily Itinerary

Nov 1: Bienvenidos a Tequisqiapan!

Touchdown in Mexico, ladies! Get ready to swap those helmets for sombreros (just kidding… kinda), because Day One of our Sierra Gorda adventure is all about soaking up the vibrant vibes of Tequisqiapan. This isn’t just some dusty stopover town: Tequisqiapan is a hidden local gem, bursting with history, culture, and enough delicious food to make your tastebuds sing.

Meet & Greet: Get ready for hugs, introductions, and that instant “we’re gonna be best friends” feeling that only happens on Big Little Rides tours. We’ll explore Tequis’ charming cobblestone streets, peek into hidden courtyards, and maybe haggle for souvenirs in the colorful markets. Don’t forget your camera – this city is begging to be Instagrammed!

Margarita Madness: Did someone say margaritas? Yep, it’s time to celebrate our arrival – cheers to new adventures and the amazing women we’ll share them with!

Next up, we’ll immerse ourselves in the Day of the Dead festivities with Catrina face painting, traditional ceremonies, and a magical night parade through candlelit streets.

Nov 2: Time to saddle up

Jumping on our Honda XRE’s, we’ll head out toward Cactus Desert – where the real Mexico begins. We’ll pack our bags (remember, pack light!), say “hasta luego” to Tequisquiapan, and hit the road for San Joaquin. Get ready for some seriously scenic views as we wind our way through the Sierra Gorda.

Nov 3: Franciscan Ruins

This one’s one of our favorites, a dreamy ride down a canyon, a stop to travel back in time at a stunning Franciscan monastery now left to the elements, and a trail to a small town of San Joaquin famous for its Huapango dancers and ridiculously delicious food.

Nov 4: The Rollercoaster Ride

Get ready for the El Doctor Loop, a 50km rollercoaster of pine-scented trails, hidden villages, and a dash of mining history. We’ll wind our way through lush pine forests, where the air is crisp, the trails are twisty, and the views are breathtaking. Keep your eyes peeled for those sneaky narrow paths – they’re a fun challenge!

Nov 5: Waterfalls and Pyramids

Time to cool off a little: leaving the bikes parked, we’ll enjoy a well-earned rest day at the Maravillas waterfalls and pyramids.

Nov 6: The Road to Mars

Today, we’ll be unleashing the bikes on the famous Red Dunes – this is a new trail we’ve discovered recently, and it’s almost literally out of this world. We’ll have lunch with a local family, then wind our way back across sun-drenched mountain trails and paved twisties.

Nov 7: The Swirly Rocks

Ever heard of the Antelope Canyon in Arizona? The Angostura’s canyon is its Mexican cousin, except we’ll be able to ride our bikes right through it. Think riverbeds, cool mountain streams, and colorful rocks, plus a sleepy baby donkey or two along the way.

Nov 8: Departure

Hasta pronto, ladies!
